If there remain in our present age any vestiges of the steps once trod in this solemn Baroque dance, they are assuredly its triple meter and its somber character; and while this modern iteration can hardly go toe to toe with the great sarabandes of Handel and Bach, it is, I hope, at least a step in the right direction.
