Employing the granular synthesis application EmissionControl2, this etude exists as a pseudo-improvisation on a short cell of sounds synthesized in Audacity which have been manipulated in real time using EmissionControl2’s preset morphing function. Thus, this etude combines fixed media with “live performance,” where compositional decisions concerning structure and direction were made parallel to the manipulation of the sound itself.
